Electric scooters & cars: how to complain.

Breakdowns, long service waits, battery and software faults and delivery delays with electric scooters and cars. Pick the app for its step-by-step guide — who to write to, when to escalate, and the rule behind each step.

First, the thing to know

My electric scooter or car keeps breaking down and service is slow — what can I do?

Write to the company itself — not only the showroom or service centre — with your chassis/VIN number, invoice, and every service job card. A faulty vehicle or poor service under warranty is a consumer complaint: the National Consumer Helpline (1915) takes it up with the company, and the Consumer Commission can order repair, replacement or a refund. In 2024 the Central Consumer Protection Authority issued a notice to one EV maker after nearly 10,000 helpline complaints in a year — complaining in writing works.
